The London 1647 application is a proof-of-concept, built using the MobileXpeditions platform, which can be used to quickly and easily deliver location-based content in a mobile application. The panoramic image of London, by Wenceslaus Hollar, displays the city as it was in the mid 17th century, just before the tragedies of the plague and the great fire of london. The image shows how the platform handles very large images with multi-resolution tiling (the Hollar image is over 28,000 X 5,000 pixels). While normally content of the individual points of interest would be stored locally, the points can just as easily be populated with information from a server. In this case, the application is fetching the data live from Wikipedia.This application displays only some of the features that the platform is capable of.
